The Simpsons were picked up for another two years by Fox. This will bring the show into its 22nd season, which will pass Gunsmoke as the longest running television series in history.
I confess that I haven't watched much of the new Simpsons lately but it is still the greatest show on TV. I always have a Simpsons reference for my students and I show an episode on occasion (when it relates to the material of course).
It's funny, the show has been on for so long that some of my students have never really watched it. I can't blame them entirely. The show's peak was the 1990's when my students were babies (and before) so they never knew the show in its prime. So, I am doing my part to fill in the gaps with them!
