HUGE news out of Lowell - State Sen. Steve Panagiotakos, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, is retiring in January. Pangi has served in the legislature for 20 years and is a good Democrat, he's not some moonbat liberal. This is a big loss.
The Senator, as he is known around here, is a good guy and his leaving is not good for Greater Lowell. People are saying that he's been thinking of leaving for sometime and one has to wonder if the anti-incumbent mood of 2010 helped him with his decision. The other state senator in the area, Susan Tucker, has also bowed out meaning there will be a huge shift in the Merrimack Valley's delegation come January.
Election season 2010 is going to be so much fun.
